Sardines is not like other fish. I am not trying to review and compare, car or hardware magazine style. That SUV does 10 miles per litre, has a bigger boot and comes with alloy wheels as standard. We are talking of my favourite fish, you see, no cheap reviews here! It belongs to a category of its own. Almost 1.5gr of Omega 3, highly available DHA and EPA, packed in a sexy 12 cm tin with a mixture of olive oil of EU origin (!) for less than 0.50 GBP (0.70 USD) down at your local supermarket. Yes, directly from Portugal, to just about wherever you are. These beautiful creatures will contain all of their little bones, internal organs and intestine, so full of that special excrement that tastes so marvellous, might even do you great, who knows!
A Sardine is not just another animal, when it comes to nutrition it’s Gods’ superfood. And this coming from a 5 days a week vegetarian with a rather sophisticated palate (ehm..) refined so carefully on fresh and cooked vegetables, beans and pulses. An (almost) sugar free, caffeine free palate so well trained to then savouring the fishy fish’s meaty meat! And there’s plenty of it, godly sardines, in our seas. Most fish eaters like the ugly cod or the mercurial tuna.
Yes, but sardines is humble fish, low in the food chain, someone might say. Looow in the food chaaain!?? Little they know that the size of the Gods‘ super-food makes it one of the cleanest and most sustainable resources available to us. Oh, I wonder, I wonder sometimes! How can you miss out?
